Welcome to the BCARA Stories & Impact

Jul 7, 2026 | Stories & Impact

As Board Chair of the BC Addiction Recovery Association, I’m pleased to introduce this new space for our members, partners, and everyone committed to recovery across British Columbia.

BCARA, formerly the Recovery Council of BC, was created in 2016 through early work with the BC Centre on Substance Use. We champion recovery as an essential part of the continuum of care and serve as a collective voice for providers responding to substance use challenges.

This blog will share the impact of that work. Here you’ll find updates on policy and practice, news from BCARA and our member organizations, and stories of recovery that highlight the courage, expertise, and resilience in our communities.

At the heart of this blog is a simple belief: everyone seeking recovery deserves care that is respectful, effective, and accessible, wherever they are in B.C.

If you have a recovery story or insight to share—as someone with lived or living experience, a family member, or a practitioner, we invite you to connect with us. Your story can offer hope to others and help strengthen recovery services across the province.

Thank you for being part of this community.

Daniel Marks,
BC Addiction Recovery Association Board Chair
